Guide for teachers
Create classes, run live sessions, offer one-on-one time, set assignments and exams, and follow your students and earnings, on a computer or a phone.
Who this guide is for
You teach on the platform (role: Teacher). You build classes, deliver live sessions, offer one-on-one time, mark work, and follow your students and your earnings.
Before you start
Open your organisation's site and select Sign In.
Enter your email and password, then select Sign In. You arrive on Today.
To join as a teacher, select Sign Up, choose Teacher, and fill in your name, email, password, phone number, a short bio (About yourself) and the subjects you teach, then select Create Account. Your organisation approves new teachers, so you may have to wait for approval before you can publish.
If your organisation charges a registration fee, you pay it once before you can use the teaching pages; see Pay a registration fee below.
Find your way around
The app works in a web browser on a computer, a tablet or a phone. The pages are the same; only where the menu sits changes.
On a computer or tablet, the menu is down the left side, under your organisation's name, in groups:
| Group | Pages |
|---|---|
| Overview | Today, Analytics |
| Teaching | Classes, Live Sessions, One-on-one slots, Library |
| Students | Students, Assignments, Exams |
| Business | Earnings, Registration Fee, Landing Page, Promote |
| Account | Contact details |
| Support | Support, Guide |
The top right holds the language switcher (English or French), the help (?) button that opens this guide in the app, New Class, the light and dark theme switch and the notification bell. To sign out, select Sign out, the icon beside your name at the bottom of the menu.
On a phone, the top bar shows your organisation's name, the notification bell and your picture. A bar along the bottom holds four tabs:
| Tab | Opens |
|---|---|
| Today | Your day: figures, upcoming sessions and recent enrolments |
| Classes | Your classes, and New Class |
| Live | Live Sessions |
| Students | Your students |
The fifth tab, More, opens the whole menu, including One-on-one slots, Assignments, Exams, Earnings, Landing Page and Guide. It also holds Appearance (System, Light or Dark), Language and Sign out. Selecting your picture in the top bar opens More too.
On a phone, lists such as Students show one card per student instead of a table.
Use it on your phone
Open your organisation's address in your phone's browser and sign in.
The browser may offer, once, to install the app on your home screen. Select Install app. On an iPhone, the offer shows the steps instead: select the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. Select Not now to skip it.
The app then opens from your home screen like any other app, on Today, with the four tabs along the bottom and More for everything else.
The app starts in the same light or dark setting as your device. Choosing Light or Dark under More keeps that choice; System goes back to following the device. If a message says A new version is available, select Reload.
Start your day: Today
Today greets you by name and shows your Revenue, Students, Classes and Rating figures, a Revenue over time chart, your Upcoming Sessions (each with a Start button) and your Recent Enrolments. Select View all beside a list to open the full page.
Create a class
Select New Class: at the top right on a computer, or on the Classes tab on a phone. The five-step Class Builder opens.
Basic Info: title, description, subject, level, tags, topics, objectives and a thumbnail. Select Next: Type & Pricing.
Type & Pricing: choose Live, Recorded, Hybrid or One-on-One, and free, paid or subscription pricing. Select Next: Curriculum.
Curriculum: add sections and lessons. This step is for recorded and hybrid classes only. Select Next: Materials.
Materials: upload any files for the class. Select Next: Preview.
Preview & Publish: check the checklist, then select Save as Draft or Publish Class.
Your classes are listed under Classes (headed My Classes), grouped into Published, Drafts and Archived. Open any class to see its Students, Curriculum, Sessions, Materials, Analytics and Settings tabs.
Run live sessions
Open Live Sessions (on a phone, the Live tab) and select Schedule Session.
Choose the class, a session title, the date and time, the duration and, if you want one, a maximum number of students. Tick Enable Recording if you want a recording, then choose Who can watch the recording: Only me, Students in the class (the default) or Anyone signed in.
Select Schedule. If the time clashes with another session or a one-on-one slot, a warning says so and Schedule stays unavailable until you choose another time.
At the session time, select Start (on Live Sessions or Today) to open the classroom.
In the classroom you can:
Turn your microphone, camera and screen sharing on and off. Sharing your screen switches everyone to a focus layout.
Open Chat and People. Chat messages are saved for group sessions.
In People, Mute or Kick a participant. Raised hands are sorted to the top.
Select End Session to finish for everyone. This also stops the recording.
A recording is offered to whoever you chose. Students watch it under Class Recordings on the class. To change who can watch it, use the Recording column on Live Sessions (on a phone, the Recording line on the session's card) and pick Only me, Students in the class or Anyone signed in. The change is saved straight away, and the column also says when a recording is being prepared, ready or has failed.
Offer one-on-one sessions
Open One-on-one slots (on a phone, in More) and select Add Slot.
Set the Start Date & Time and End Date & Time, tick Free Session or enter a price, and add notes. A price is in your organisation's currency.
A student books a free slot at once. A paid slot is Held for the student while they pay, and becomes Booked, marked Paid, once the payment arrives. If it does not arrive in time, the slot is released and offered again.
When a student has booked, select Start meeting at the scheduled time. Afterwards you can select View recording if you recorded it.
A paid session is shared between the platform, your organisation and you, as a class sale is. Your share shows on the slot once it is paid, and counts in your Earnings and your payouts like a class sale.
You can cancel an open slot at any time, and a booked one until the session starts; you are asked to confirm. Cancelling a paid booking flags a refund, which your organisation makes. Nothing is refunded automatically. You cannot cancel a slot while a student is paying for it.
Build your public page
Open Landing Page under Business (on a phone, in More) to edit your public microsite. Work through the tabs:
Hero: claim your Public Handle, then set the headline, tagline, call to action, hero background and colour theme.
About: a bilingual bio with automatic translation, and your social links.
Classes: feature the classes you want to show first.
Sections: under Section Visibility, switch Gallery, Testimonials / Reviews, FAQ and Custom Block on or off, and write your FAQ.
Select Save Draft or Publish at the top of the page. Your page is then live on your organisation's website, at its address followed by your handle, for example /your-handle. View your page, beside the handle, opens it.
Set assignments
Open Assignments (on a phone, in More) and select New Assignment.
Choose the Class, and enter a Title, a Description and the Instructions.
Set the Max Points, the Submission Type (Text only, File only or Text or File), the Due Date and time, and whether to Allow late submissions.
Select Save Draft or Publish Assignment.
Open an assignment to see its submissions. Select Grade on a submission, enter the grade and your Feedback, and select Save Grade. You can also Return for Revision, and Re-grade later.
Set exams
Open Exams (on a phone, in More) and select New Exam.
Choose the Class, and enter the Exam Title, the Instructions, the Time Limit, the Max Attempts and the Pass Score. Choose whether to Shuffle questions and Show results immediately. Select Next: Add Questions.
Add questions: Multiple Choice, True / False or Short Answer. Mark the correct answer, set the points and, if you like, an Explanation shown after the exam.
Select Save Draft or Publish Exam.
Open an exam to see its questions and each student's attempts, with their score and whether they passed. From there you can Publish a draft or Close Exam.
Follow your students, earnings and analytics
Students (on a phone, the Students tab) lists every learner in any of your classes, with their photo (or initials), email, level, how many of your classes they take, when they were last active and their status. Type in Name, email or phone… to find one, and narrow the list with Status, Level, Class, Free or paid and Joined, or order it with Sort by. On a phone the filters are behind the Filters button; each filter that is on shows as a label you select to take it off. Select a learner to open their page: their photo, email and phone, and each of your classes they are in, with their lesson progress, the live sessions they attended and the exams they passed. You see only your own learners, and only your own classes on their page.
Earnings (on a phone, in More) shows, for each currency you are paid in, your Gross Revenue, the Platform Fee, your Net Earnings and your Next Payout, split between Class sales and One-to-one session payments. The Transaction History labels each entry with its source; use Filter by source to see one. The Payouts section lists each payout run with what it paid for classes and for one-to-one sessions.
A paid one-to-one session is paid out in the next payout run after the student pays. If it is cancelled and the student is owed a refund, your share shows Held: refund owed until your organisation records the refund; a refunded session is then taken back, from your next payout if it was already paid.
A payout is never negative. If what is taken back is more than a payout would have paid, that payout is zero and the difference is carried forward: your earnings card shows Carried forward from previous periods, and it comes off your next payouts in the same currency until it is cleared. Each payout in Payouts shows what you earned, what was paid and any amount carried.
Analytics shows your Revenue Trend, Session Attendance and, for the class you pick, its Class Performance: completion, progress, Drop-off Analysis and Ratings Distribution.
Add your payout account
Where your earnings are paid by bank transfer, they are sent after each payout run is approved.
Open Earnings (on a phone, in More) and find Payout account.
Select Add a payout account (or Change account), choose your Bank and enter your ten-digit Account number.
Select Check the name and save. The Account name is filled in by the bank; check it is yours.
Until you add one, payouts by transfer wait. Each paid entry in Payouts shows the bank's transfer reference; one that could not be paid says why, and is paid again once you correct the account.
Pay a registration fee
Only if your organisation charges one.
Open Registration Fee under Business (on a phone, in More). If it says No registration fee is due, there is nothing to do.
If it says Registration fee due, choose a Payment method and select Pay.
Complete the payment as shown. Once it is received, the page says Registration fee paid and the teaching pages open.
Promote your profile
Open Promote under Business (on a phone, in More). Available Boosts shows the tiers on sale in your organisation's currency, priced in it.
Choose a tier and a duration, then buy. You are taken to a secure checkout.
When you return, the boost shows under Active Boosts with the days remaining. You can cancel a purchase that is still pending. Purchase History lists every purchase.
If no tier is shown, none is on sale in your currency yet. The platform team sets boost prices for each currency.
Manage materials and your contact details
Open Library (on a phone, in More) to select Upload Material, reuse files across classes with Attach to Class, and delete them. You can also upload from a class's Materials tab.
Open Contact details under Account to add the phone number your reminders go to, and select Save number. Your email is your sign-in address and cannot be changed there.
Tips and common questions
A session clashes with another. The scheduler warns you and will not schedule it. Choose another time.
A slot shows Held. A student is paying for it. It becomes Booked when the payment arrives, or is offered again if it does not.
Where is New Class on a phone? On the Classes tab, at the top of the list.
Where is sign out on a phone? At the bottom of More.
Getting help
Open Guide (on a computer, also the help (?) button at the top right) for step-by-step help. The chat button at the bottom right of every page opens AI Chat, Live Chat and Ticket. The AI assistant knows your classes, sessions, submissions to grade and earnings, and can walk you through any feature.
Try it yourself in the live demo.
